Key Responsibilities

  • •Draw blood and collect specimens for routine and complex testing in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • •Provide pre- and post-test counselling to patients and family members, explaining procedures and answering questions.
  • •Identify, prevent, and report risks to ensure patient safety and follow health and safety protocols to maintain a sterile work area.
  • •Perform administrative tasks to ensure correct and accurate recording and processing of patient and clinical information.
  • •Record and charge utilised stock accurately and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in the EC Unit.

Key Requirements

  • •Registered/Enrolled Nurse, or a Certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques.
  • •At least 1–2 years’ experience after nursing/phlebotomy qualification.
  • •Proficiency in phlebotomy procedures.
  • •Knowledge of relevant statutory/regulatory requirements and clinical policies/procedures.
  • •Basic Life Support training and strong patient assessment/counselling and infection prevention skills.
