Job Summary

Support ByteDance’s hyperscale datacenter buildouts by reviewing site selection, contractual evaluations, and MEP design for new data halls. Validate server capacity, failover calculations, and commissioning requirements through construction QA/QC and testing/commissioning reviews. Coordinate commissioning results with FM teams, help drive operational SME knowledge, and perform periodic design audits to improve reliability and performance globally.

Key Responsibilities

•Participate in reviewing data center site selection and contractual evaluations and executions.
•Review MEP design and other disciplines for new datacenter builds and data hall fit-outs.
•Review data hall layout plans and conduct test fits to validate server capacity plans and failover calculations.
•Scope commissioning requirements and responsibility matrices in contracts with data center providers/developers during site selection and contracting.
•Participate in construction QA/QC and testing/commissioning reviews; collaborate with FM teams to validate results and complete systems handoff.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline, plus at least 2 years of commissioning experience.
•Knowledge of standard power and cooling calculations to determine capacity requirements (e.g., UTI, TIA-942, ASHRAE).
•Experience with power redundancy design concepts (e.g., 2N, N+1) and cooling redundancy/concurrent maintainability (e.g., N+1, N+2).
•Experience leading/influencing design processes from conceptual through detailed design for data centers and applying tiering standards (e.g., TIA-942 Tier 3, Uptime Tier 3).
•Mechanical/electrical engineering experience with systems such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, and electrical sub-distribution systems.
