Job Summary

Support the San Diego power and energy substation team by assisting with design, permitting, and construction of utility-scale substations and related electrical systems, performing data analysis, calculations, and technical reporting to ensure safety and compliance across multiple projects.

Job Function: Hardware, Embedded & Systems Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Assist with data collection/analysis for substation components and design reviews, including IEEE/NESC/NERC compliance
•Design support for single line diagrams, bus layout, grounding, and protection concepts
•Provide technical assistance on equipment sizing, cabling, and panel/conduit/trenching strategies
•Prepare technical reports and documentation using sketches, calculations, and spreadsheets
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams (controls, procurement, permitting) to execute projects

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 1-3 years of post-education experience
•Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design/build processes, and permitting
•Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., CAD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP) including AutoCAD Electrical
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team
•Willingness to travel occasionally and adhere to safety policies and standards
