Apply strong networking and distributed-systems fundamentals—covering DHTs, indexing research, CRDTs, protocol testing, and high-performance concurrent code—while leveraging Node.js and the Holepunch stack.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop decentralized, peer-to-peer search infrastructure with no centralized index for resilience and scalability.
•Build a self-organizing search engine that supports searching over text, images, chats, locations, and other data.
•Implement and optimize distributed indexing and search engine architecture concepts, including ranking and retrieval behavior.
•Design and improve P2P networking components, including protocol testing, evaluation, and high-performance concurrent networking code.
•Work with the team on the Holepunch stack (e.g., hyperdht, hyperswarm, hypercore, hyperbee, hyperdrive, udx-native) and related components.

Key Requirements

•Node.js engineering skills with a passion for peer-to-peer systems and a bias for building.
•Experience with P2P decentralization concepts such as Kademlia DHT and distributed indexing research (e.g., skip graphs, prefix hash trees, m-LIGHT, locality sensitive hashing).
•Experience with distributed databases and CRDTs.
•Networking experience for P2P (TCP/IP, connection reliability models, multiplexing, NAT traversal, encryption).
•Knowledge of search engine engineering concepts (information retrieval, recall vs. precision, ranking algorithms, lexical vs. semantic search, inverted indices).
