Job Summary

Provide technical guidance to finalize Tanzania’s Health Sector National Adaptation Plan (H-NAP) 2026–2030. Collaborate with the Ministry of Health, WHO, UNICEF, and other stakeholders to validate and update climate-sensitive health data, embed heat-health interventions, and strengthen gender- and equity-sensitive approaches. Support problem-tree analysis, cross-sectoral linkage mechanisms, and review the draft action plan to ensure interventions are practical, cost-effective, and ready for stakeholder validation and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

•Facilitate consultations with MoH, WHO, UNICEF, civil society, academia, and DPG Health to ensure broad input and ownership.
•Support validation of climate-sensitive health data (including maternal and neonatal indicators) and integrate it into the H-NAP.
•Design a conceptual framework linking climate change determinants to health outcomes to guide prioritization of interventions.
•Update data on climate-sensitive diseases, extreme weather impacts, and health infrastructure vulnerabilities.
•Finalize the H-NAP with the international consultant, including review of the draft action plan and ensuring readiness for stakeholder validation and adoption.

Key Requirements

•Bachelors’ degree plus a Masters’ degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Environmental Health Sciences, or Climate Change.
•Minimum of 5 years working in health systems strengthening, climate change adaptation, or related areas, with experience in Tanzania or similar contexts.
•Strong knowledge of climate-sensitive diseases and heat-health risks, including pathways linking climate change to health outcomes.
•Experience developing or reviewing national health strategies, adaptation plans, or policy frameworks aligned with WHO guidance.
•Proven ability to validate, update, and interpret health and climate data (including maternal and neonatal indicators) and translate findings into actionable interventions.
