Job Summary

Deliver flood risk assessment work on technically complex projects for a range of clients, contributing to major infrastructure FRA efforts in the UK and overseas. Support flood modelling, sustainable drainage, LLFA services, flood management solutions, and Water EIA activities such as WFD assessment and permitting. Work across the Sustainable Water Management team, liaise with stakeholders, and share expertise while mentoring more junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

•Carry out flood risk assessments and prepare project deliverables as assigned by senior team members.
•Support related work such as sustainable drainage design, planning application reviews, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, permitting applications, and environmental assessments.
•Conduct site surveys to collect baseline information and support Section 19 investigations.
•Provide technical inputs for planning and permitting, including FRA and Water EIA inputs to planning applications and supporting DCO examinations or planning inquiries.
•Communicate and liaise with the project team and support junior staff by sharing knowledge and mentoring as part of the role.

Key Requirements

•Experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and supporting skills such as flood risk modelling, flood risk strategy development, drainage design, or Water EIA (with some consultancy experience).
•Experience providing technical inputs for planning and permitting for major infrastructure projects, including FRA/Water EIA inputs and supporting DCO examinations or planning inquiries.
•Knowledge of the regulatory context for flood risk planning in the UK.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•A degree in a relevant environmental, geographical, science or engineering discipline and actively working towards chartered status with C.WEM, CEnv, CSci or CEng.
