Job Summary

Join the Nature team as a Consultant Ecologist supporting a range of ecology programs across major infrastructure projects and local assignments. You’ll organize and deliver desk studies and field surveys, analyze and present ecological data, and contribute to Ecological Impact Assessments and mitigation strategies. You may also act as an Ecological Clerk of Works and support Habitats Regulations Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain through mentoring and coaching.

Key Responsibilities

•Organize and carry out desk studies and field-based habitat, botanical, protected species, and non-native invasive species surveys.
•Analyze, evaluate, interpret, and present ecological data, supporting Ecological Impact Assessments and mitigation strategy design.
•Deliver protected species and habitat surveys and develop analysis and impact assessments that lead to successful mitigation.
•Perform the role of an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
•Support work winning, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain mentoring and coaching.

Key Requirements

•Experience in an ecology-related role, including designing, coordinating, and/or leading field surveys.
•Knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy, and the Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) process.
•Experience with botanical identification and Phase 1 Habitat / NVC surveys and/or protected species surveys (preferably bats or dormouse).
•Ability to adapt to peaks in demand, including occasional longer/unsociable hours and working away from home for days or weeks.
•Strong report writing skills, including producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
