Job Summary

Legal Counsel to join Wise’s North America team in Austin, handling a broad, generalist portfolio across regulatory, contract, IP, privacy, and risk matters. You’ll partner with multiple business teams, own parts of the contract lifecycle with banks and platforms, advise on product launches, support NA expansion, and mentor colleagues within a fast-growing, listed fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide strategic legal advice across a wide range of matters including financial and consumer regulation, payments, banking arrangements, money transmission, new products, partnerships, and employment.
•Own aspects of the contract lifecycle with bank partners, online platforms and enterprise customers, from structuring and drafting to negotiation.
•Assess and advise on risks related to feature launches, regulatory implications, and relationships with partners/platforms.
•Collaborate with Product, Finance, Banking, Risk, Compliance and People teams to launch products, services and partnerships.
•Support expansion across North America (including Canada), license applications, market entry and corporate matters.

Key Requirements

•A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school and qualified to practice law in any state in the US.
•3+ years of professional experience as an attorney.
•Experience in the banking, payments, financial services and/or technology industry.
•Previous law firm or in-house experience, ideally focusing on payments, card processing, financial services, banking or investments.
•A proven aptitude for commercial contract structuring, drafting and negotiation.
