Job Summary

Use geospatial data to analyze natural hazard risk for reinsurance pricing and risk-based products. Work in Aon’s International Natural Catastrophe Research team, collecting and interrogating spatial data, performing geospatial/scientific analyses, and developing SQL-based databases. Expand analysis coverage over time across regions, research built-environment risk, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders through focused programs of work.

Key Responsibilities

•Collect, manipulate, and interrogate spatial data for risk-based pricing products related to natural hazards.
•Perform geospatial and scientific data analysis for natural hazards across Australia and New Zealand, expanding over time into Asia Pacific.
•Develop and manage SQL-based databases related to natural hazard risk.
•Research natural hazard risk in relation to the built environment and bring in new data and insights to support pricing products.
•Engage with stakeholders and manage specific programs of work while building effective internal and external relationships.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as GIS, Natural Hazards, Physical Geography, or Earth Science.
•Advanced geospatial analysis experience using ESRI and/or QGIS for spatial analytics.
•Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
•Experience coding with a geospatial industry language such as Python.
•2–6 years of experience and strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and self-discipline to manage your workflow.
