Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, coordinate, analyze, implement, and administer IT solutions including database server configuration and ongoing maintenance.
  • •Analyze client infrastructure and processes and recommend best practices to improve operational procedures, focusing on maximum uptime and recoverability.
  • •Administer backup and disaster recovery plans with proactive monitoring, alert response, troubleshooting, and management of restoration of corrupted databases.
  • •Develop and maintain complex data architectures (normalized/dimensional models) and perform data transformation/migration using scripts or stored procedures.
  • •Lead problem management and client engagement activities, including client status/incident reporting, change control alignment, and on-call rotation participation.

Key Requirements

  • •Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases and related tools; administer PostgreSQL in virtualized and cloud environments (especially AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • •Use scripting and software development for automation (bash/python; C++, Java, Go) and automation technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or SALT.
  • •Debug and troubleshoot PostgreSQL issues methodically with strong documentation skills.
  • •Hands-on monitoring experience for PostgreSQL using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds, pgAdmin, Zabbix, Nagios, and Datadog; familiarity with cloud-native monitoring such as AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Operations, and Azure Monitor.
  • •Manage high availability for PostgreSQL (e.g., Patroni, repmgr) including failover, replication, and cluster health monitoring; configure backup/restore (e.g., Barman, pgBackRest, pg_basebackup) with PITR and WAL archiving.
