Join Cox Fleet as a Shop Trailer Mechanic II. In this on-site role, you’ll perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on light to heavy-duty trailers in a shop environment, maintain safety standards, document work, and collaborate with the Parts and Shop teams to meet high performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles in a shop setting.
•Independently determine parts needed for each job and coordinate with the Shop Parts Department to obtain them.
•Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist with end-of-day cleanup of tools, parts, and equipment.
•Document work performed and parts used on Repair Orders using the company device and/or Karmak application; upload photos and findings.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems (e.g., aluminum/chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication) while adhering to safety policies.

Salary: USD 26.63 - 40 hourly

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of related field experience, or an equivalent combination of degree/certification and experience
•Possess and supply a complete set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties
•DOT/FMCSA compliance experience, including ability to complete DOT forms and a current DOT medical card (or medical card with sufficient validity)
•Valid driver’s license and ability to operate in interstate commerce; must be at least 21 years old
•ASE certifications preferred (ASE T8 PMI required within 18 months; T4/T5/T6/T7/T8 also listed as preferred)
