Job Summary

Analyze and classify Ciena products for tariff, export control, and technology classifications to support compliant import/export operations. Interpret technical documentation and regulatory requirements, collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, and maintain audit-ready records while continuously improving trade compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform and maintain tariff classifications (HTS), export control classifications (ECCNs), and technology classifications for products, components, software, and related technology
•Analyze technical documentation, engineering specifications, and product functionality to support defensible classification determinations
•Assess classification impacts related to encryption, controlled technology, dual-use items, and jurisdictional variations
•Document classification rationales and maintain audit-ready records to support internal governance, regulatory inquiries, and external audits
•Support import & export compliance requirements by ensuring accurate tariff data and assist with submission of classifications and regulatory interactions as needed

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
•2+ years of experience in global trade compliance or related field focusing on tariff and/or export control classification
•Fluent in English (written and verbal)
•Working knowledge of export control regulations (e.g., EAR, encryption controls) and customs classification principles
•Experience interpreting technical product and technology information for regulatory purposes
