Job Summary

Lead mechanical engineering on selected projects, applying technical judgment across investigations, feasibility, concept/design, and construction support. Deliver mechanical design solutions for process plant and piping—especially fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food—controlling technical delivery, costs, changes, and programme. Oversee plant layout and pipework design (including 3D modelling), supervise graduate engineers, coordinate with other disciplines, and review designs against applicable regulatory standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate as Lead Mechanical Engineer on selected projects, controlling technical delivery, costs, changes, and programme at all stages.
•Produce mechanical design work including design/engineering calculations and specifications, and support feasibility through concept and scheme designs.
•Prepare flowsheets and engineering line diagrams, and supervise plant layout and pipework design including 3D modelling.
•Generate and oversee data sheets, piping and equipment specifications, technical appraisals, and selection.
•Provide site support during construction and commissioning and support design studies, safety reviews, and Designers Risk Assessments; supervise graduate engineers.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
•Degree qualified in mechanical engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng)
•Practical knowledge of the design, engineering and specification of process plant and piping in process-related industries
•Specific expertise in process plant and piping design for pharmaceuticals, food and fine chemicals
•Knowledge of CAD and 3D modelling software, including pipe stress analysis (Caesar II or equivalent)
