Key Responsibilities

  • •Guarantee correctness at scale by defining exactly-once payment execution under partial failures, retries, and cross-service races as a first-class testable property.
  • •Set the API contract for partners and internal teams, including versioning, backward compatibility, and webhook delivery guarantees.
  • •Direct money-movement architecture across multiple rails and institutions, including routing, retries, and failover across sponsor banks and networks like Visa Direct.
  • •Own batching, funding, and reconciliation with accurate matching to external settlement data, fast exception handling, and minimal surprises.
  • •Build reliability and observability from day one, defining architecture review/RFC standards and the monitoring/alerting to catch issues before live processing impact.

Key Requirements

  • •12+ years building production payments or financial systems, operating at $10s to $100s of billions in GMV, and owning architecture through to production.
  • •Experience designing and operating a double-entry ledger in production, including derived balances, hot-account partitioning, and schema evolution under load.
  • •Experience building idempotent, exactly-once payment flows in real-time, high-throughput systems, with concrete examples of holding correctness under retries and write failures.
  • •Experience designing distributed data architectures and petabyte-scale storage systems, plus high-throughput services with sub-50ms latency under production load.
  • •Deep experience with settlement and reconciliation against real external data (bank files, card settlement, ACH returns) with mismatch detection as core system design.
