Job Summary

Strengthen and evolve the Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) compliance framework by executing second-line oversight through quality assurance, control testing, and investigations. Review Proof of Funds, Source of Funds, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity cases for completeness and evidence quality. Perform enhanced due diligence on complex, high-risk business customer structures, identify control gaps, and partner with AML, Risk, Product, Operations, Engineering, and Data teams to drive effective remediation and control design.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive second-line quality assurance and control reviews across AFC processes, assessing investigations, decisions, documentation, and escalations against internal standards and Austrian/German regulatory requirements.
•Review Proof of Funds, Source of Funds, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity cases to ensure they are complete, risk-based, and evidence-supported, including SAR quality.
•Conduct enhanced due diligence on complex or high-risk cases involving business customers, legal entities, ownership structures, and beneficial owners.
•Identify control weaknesses, recurring quality issues, and operational process gaps, and support remediation implementation and follow-up to strengthen the AFC framework.
•Collaborate with Operations, Product, Engineering, Risk, and AML Officers to improve control design, investigation standards, procedural guidance, reporting, and overall AFC process effectiveness.

Key Requirements

•Hold a university degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field with a foundation in anti-financial crime compliance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
•Proven experience in anti-financial crime compliance, AML investigations, financial crime advisory, or compliance oversight in a regulated financial institution, payment institution, fintech, cryptocurrency service provider, or consultancy.
•Practical experience performing quality assurance, second-line controls, or compliance oversight within risk-based AML/CFT control frameworks, including Proof of Funds investigations and review/assessment of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
•Strong analytical and investigative skills, with experience extracting and analysing data using Snowflake SQL or similar tools to support risk-based compliance decisions.
•Excellent written and verbal communication in English and German, with professional proficiency in German for reviewing customer documentation and supporting Austrian/German AML/CFT regulatory reporting.
