Job Summary

Execute and deliver test work on financial internal controls to support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and FDICIA requirements. Evaluate design and operational effectiveness of controls, identify root causes, recommend improvements, and document the ICOFR process through walkthroughs and testing of key controls. Partner with stakeholders across operations, support services, and technology, communicate deficiencies and remediation plans to management, and provide mentorship to junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform audit assignments and projects under the direction of the Financial Control Manager, documenting the ICOFR process by updating risk and control matrices/audit programs.
•Conduct detailed ICOFR test work, including walkthroughs and testing of key controls; maintain a log of observations and deficiencies and track remediation status.
•Evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of processes and internal controls to identify root causes and recommend improvements.
•Develop and maintain relationships with staff, management, and external auditors through effective communication.
•Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.

Key Requirements

•3+ years of related experience in internal controls, public accounting, internal audit, or a similar field.

•Intermediate knowledge of internal control analysis, risk assessment methodologies, and relevant SOX/FDICIA/FRB reporting requirements, COSO, IIA standards, and/or GAAP.
•Entry-level knowledge of general banking operations including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other commercial banking products.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate communication skills to interact effectively at all levels.
