Job Summary

Join WSP’s Transport Planning & Mobility team in Newcastle to support major NSIP and DCO projects across sectors such as energy, water, defence, healthcare, and strategic highways. You’ll lead and deliver transport statements, assessments, traffic management plans, and travel plans, run technical discussions on accessibility and site access, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (noise, air quality, ecology, highways), and help ensure projects meet budget, programme, and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Undertake transport statements, transport assessments, environmental statement transport chapters, construction traffic management plans, and travel plans, including supporting client and local authority scoping discussions.
•Lead technical discussions on accessibility of project/construction sites for multiple modes and articulate impacts and mitigations for planning approvals.
•Collaborate proactively in a multi-disciplinary environment with adjacent disciplines including noise and air quality, ecology, and highway teams.
•Work across other transport workstreams such as communications and engagement to support a sustainable workflow for the local team.
•Ensure projects are delivered to budget, programme, and required technical standards, while keeping up to date with relevant standards and policies.

Key Requirements

•Experience scoping reports, transport assessments, and environmental statement transport chapters.
•Experience delivering transport planning projects with knowledge of relevant guidelines and standards.
•Familiarity with local authority transport plans and strategies (beneficial), plus experience with transport feasibility studies and option assessment reports.
•Strong numerical, spatial, and analytical skills, with excellent working knowledge of MS Office tools.
•Ability to produce high-standard technical project reports and communicate technical arguments to technical and non-technical audiences.
