Maintain food safety and quality standards within the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FS/QA) team by performing routine sanitation checks and conducting NSIS inspections of live hogs, heads, carcasses, and viscera. Ensure HACCP and USDA regulatory compliance, recognize disease/contamination hazards, verify inspection documentation with USDA officials and plant management, and work cross-departmentally to implement procedure changes and prevent non-compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform routine sanitation checks to ensure HACCP and USDA regulations are consistently followed.
•Conduct NSIS procedures by inspecting live hogs, heads, carcasses, and viscera to identify and control potential food safety hazards.
•Recognize and identify diseases, consumer concerns, and contamination in pork/swine while ensuring compliance with Federal Regulations, Directives, and Guidelines.
•Monitor products against RTC pork definitions, communicate with helpers on correct tags/markings, and verify inspection documentation with USDA officials and plant management.
•Collaborate with other departments to implement procedure changes, address non-compliance issues, and continuously improve product quality through attention to processes and improvements.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 19.23 - 28.85 hourly

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED, required.
•Must be able to read and write in English to complete required applicable forms.
•Ability to follow written and verbal directions, create and interpret technical documents (quality specs, safety rules, manuals), and use monitoring equipment.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and addressing inquiries from customers or regulatory agencies.
•Technical knowledge of quality assurance principles, food science, meat processing, and USDA regulations to apply corrective actions and regulatory expectations.
