Job Summary

Lead freshwater ecology work that supports Environmental Impact Assessments and other regulatory documents for major infrastructure and development schemes. Oversee aquatic baseline survey programme design, author EIA chapters and planning submission outputs, and provide expert advice on freshwater ecology (including protected species). Build a strong internal and external technical profile through practice networks and client-facing engagement across UK and international projects.

Key Responsibilities

•Guide and oversee the design of aquatic baseline survey programmes to support Environmental Impact Assessments and other regulatory documents.
•Author Environmental Impact Assessment chapters and written outputs contributing to planning submissions for development schemes in the UK and internationally.
•Provide expert advice on freshwater ecology and related matters.
•Represent clients on marine matters where required.
•Build and maintain a strong internal and external profile as a technical expert through practice area networks and externally.

Key Requirements

•Extensive relevant experience gained within a professional consultancy, regulatory, or industrial role.
•Advanced technical knowledge and competency in marine ecology, including protected species.
•Proven track record designing and delivering aquatic monitoring programmes across a range of aquatic habitats in the UK and internationally.
•Ability to produce high-quality, technically and scientifically robust reports and other deliverables.
•Comprehensive knowledge of relevant ecology and water legislation and how it applies to the planning process.
