Job Summary

Operate heavy equipment on a grade crew to support road, site, and highway construction and paving. Smooth and adjust grade and finishes before compaction, safely operate machines such as front end loaders, bulldozers, and motor graders, and follow OSHA/MSHA safety procedures. Complete daily pre- and post-inspections with required documentation, perform minor maintenance, and assist with asphaltic material handling and finishing machine support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently for road, site, and highway construction and paving.
•Smooth and adjust grade and finishes before compaction.
•Follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe work procedures and environment.
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance; escalate major problems to the Foreman.
•Complete daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation and follow Foreman directions for daily tasks and expectations.

Key Requirements

•Minimum high school diploma or GED preferred.
•Previous related experience in the construction field and/or training required.
•Must be able to perform frequent physical motions (stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, reaching, squatting) including regular lifting of 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
•Use tools such as a shovel, asphalt rake, and asphalt lute to perform grade crew tasks.
•Ability to work any shift and work in GA and SC depending on the project.
