Job Summary

Support on-site field archaeology projects in Reno, NV, performing artifact collection, identification, and data compilation under general supervision. Maintain quality controls for measurement and documentation, assist with site characterization and environmental considerations, and generate complete field notes and reports using electronic systems. Follow safety guidelines, ethics, and company policies while contributing to Phase I–III surveys and traveling to project sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts, observational, spatial, and archaeological data from field sites for projects, investigations, and surveys.
•Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation.
•Assist with performing basic professional archaeological work relating to cultural resources, verifying characteristics of a site and providing entry-level technical assistance on preservation and environmental issues.
•Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebooks.
•Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures including maintenance of sample collection, location data, laboratory or statistical documentation, and logbooks.

Key Requirements

•Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or a closely related field; Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience
•Self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions, and be able to follow instructions
•Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience
•Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
•Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
