Key Responsibilities

  • •Adhere to SHE policies and procedures; escalate unsafe practices/risks to the supervisor/manager.
  • •Support housekeeping and actively participate in SLAMs, HPHs, risk assessments, and safety action close-outs.
  • •Maintain, calibrate, and verify monitoring equipment accuracy; follow manufacturer schedules and cleaning/storage procedures.
  • •Conduct hygiene support when required, including air sampling for contaminants and monitoring noise and hazardous chemical exposure.
  • •Maintain detailed equipment maintenance records for compliance, including calibration dates, cleaning schedules, and repairs/adjustments.

Key Requirements

  • •Grade 12 with a National Certificate in Occupational Hygiene (NQF5) or a related field, or a National Diploma in Occupational Hygiene (NQF6) (preferred).
  • •Registration with the Southern African Institute of Occupational Hygiene at Technologist level, or an Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental (or equivalent).
  • •Valid SA Drivers Licence: Code B.
  • •3–5 years of relevant technician experience maintaining occupational hygiene equipment, preferably in mining.
  • •Knowledge of occupational hygiene and safety regulations, hazardous materials effects (dust/chemicals/noise), and sampling/monitoring techniques.
