Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee a fund accountant’s daily workload, including approving exception cases for 15–20 funds and handling complex funds.
  • •Ensure daily net asset value (NAV) calculations are accurate for 1–2 assigned funds, including preliminary trial balance review.
  • •Perform and oversee general ledger accounting for multiple funds, monitoring income/expense accruals and corporate action application for GAAP compliance.
  • •Reconcile cash settlements and position quantities with custodian and prime broker records; investigate and resolve cash/position and trade detail discrepancies.
  • •Serve as a key client contact, act for the manager as needed, test new accounting system releases, coordinate audit materials, and respond to audit inquiries.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance (or equivalent education background).
  • •At least 6 years of external funding accounting (or 5.5 years of UMB fund accounting experience).
  • •Ability to independently perform general ledger accounting functions in compliance with accounting policies and GAAP, SEC, and IRS rules and regulations.
  • •Experience overseeing fund accountant exception management and reviewing preliminary trial balance and NAV calculations for multiple funds.
  • •Ability to assess training needs and provide performance feedback, and to partner with internal/external parties for compliance and reporting.
