Job Summary

Join the Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) Thermal Mechanical Engineering team to shape the end-to-end thermal architecture for AMD’s MI Series AI accelerators and data center GPU platforms. You’ll design thermal solutions, collaborate across silicon/board/power/validation/manufacturing, conduct thermal validation and laboratory experimentation, perform thermal modeling and simulation, and investigate advanced air- and liquid-cooling technologies from concept through mass production.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and develop thermal solutions for AMD’s next-generation data center GPU and AI accelerator products.
•Collaborate with silicon, board, power, validation, manufacturing, and platform engineering teams to deliver thermal-mechanical solutions from component to system level.
•Perform thermal validation activities including test planning, laboratory experimentation, data collection, and analysis.
•Contribute to thermal modeling and simulation to support product development and design optimization.
•Investigate and advance emerging cooling technologies aligned with the product roadmap; support concept through commercialization and mass production.

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree or PhD preferred in Mechanical Engineering with strong thermal focus.
•Experience with heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and electronics cooling technologies.
•Experience with thermal management solutions for high-performance computing, data center, server, or AI hardware environments.
•Experience using CFD tools such as Icepak or ANSYS AEDT (or similar simulation platforms).
•Experience with thermal laboratory testing, including DOE, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
