Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and perform scientific experiments, generate data, and analyze results in support of experimental conclusions within established guidelines.
  • •Document experimental designs, hypotheses, results, and conclusions; maintain records and laboratory notebook according to quality standards and a Quality Management System (QMS).
  • •Prepare sampling kits for collaborators and coordinate submission of kits.
  • •Collect, curate, and prepare biological and environmental samples for nucleic acid extraction; provide preliminary data analysis and support conclusions.
  • •Perform molecular and laboratory procedures including PCR troubleshooting, fungal pathogen studies, nucleic acid extraction for whole genome sequencing, and operate laboratory equipment; assist with necropsies and captive animal experiments.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in a science-related discipline and 1 year of field/work-related lab experience.
  • •Experience with PCR and DNA sequencing.
  • •Ability to perform conventional PCR, cloning, and DNA sequencing; and real-time PCR to detect and quantify pathogens.
  • •Strong attention to detail and ability to use computer software and databases to develop research reports.
  • •Must be a US Citizen able to pass a thorough background check (criminal and financial) at state and federal levels.
