Key Responsibilities

  • •Conduct investigations, interviews, and inspections of property damage within the assigned territory; prepare estimates and address coverage questions and litigation.
  • •Set and maintain reserves, review reports, determine coverage and claim value, and issue or decline payment while negotiating as necessary.
  • •Document claim files and submit reports for closure.
  • •Recognize subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action.
  • •Serve the assigned territory by bringing claims to conclusion and assist the claims supervisor, including representation at legal proceedings when required.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent required for Property Adjuster Trainee; Property Adjuster I requires two years of claims handling experience (or equivalent) or successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education; Property Adjuster II requires five years of claims handling experience (or equivalent) (or a bachelor’s degree plus two years).
  • •Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • •Ability to drive regularly within the assigned territory and participate in Catastrophe duty, which may include travel on short notice to other locations for periods in excess of two consecutive weeks.
  • •Physical ability and willingness to climb onto roofs, lift and climb ladders, and work in inclement weather or undesirable indoor environments.
  • •Willingness to pursue and complete required Technical Learning Center training and obtain and maintain any required licenses.
