Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical assistance and guidance for planning, design, and construction support of utility transmission and distribution substations.
  • •Develop and review substation design package deliverables, including one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
  • •Produce and review electrical calculations and design documentation for equipment sizing, station service/load, voltage drop, lighting, and related deliverables.
  • •Support grounding grid and lightning protection design, and assist with concept development and detailed design for equipment sizing and cabling.
  • •Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders; perform site walkdowns/field verification and respond to engineering/design questions (RFIs) as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • •3 to 5 years of relevant post-education electrical engineering experience supporting utility substation project design.
  • •Working knowledge of utility standards/specifications and applicable codes/standards used for substation design (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
  • •Experience supporting planning, design, and construction coordination for utility substation work (rehabilitation and new design).
  • •Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and communicate effectively with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
