Key Responsibilities

  • •Support feasibility, concept and detailed design for overhead transmission and distribution lines.
  • •Assist with route studies, line profiling, tower/pole spotting, sag-and-tension calculations, clearances and loading assessments.
  • •Develop proficiency in PLS-CADD and related overhead line design software.
  • •Support analysis and detailing of towers, poles, cross-arms, gantries, stays, anchors and foundations.
  • •Coordinate survey, geotechnical, environmental, electrical, structural and civil inputs; prepare calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, bills of quantities and schedules under supervision; participate in design reviews and construction support.

Key Requirements

  • •BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering from an ECSA-accredited institution (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • •Recent graduate or final-year student completing the qualification before starting employment.
  • •Sound knowledge of structural analysis, mechanics, materials, loading, engineering mathematics and design principles.
  • •Genuine interest in power transmission infrastructure and overhead line engineering.
  • •Basic proficiency with engineering calculation, drafting or modelling tools; exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, structural analysis software or PLS-CADD is advantageous.
