Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multi-disciplinary teams, establishing scopes and interfaces for coordinated delivery.
  • •Direct technical delivery for major substation design projects, monitoring progress and quality-checking deliverables before client issue.
  • •Apply lifecycle expertise from grid connection studies and concept design through FEED and detailed design for HV substation schemes.
  • •Coordinate with project management teams to develop resourcing forecasts and programmes aligned to construction schedules and critical milestones.
  • •Mentor and develop junior engineers and champion safety-in-design principles across HV substation deliverables.

Key Requirements

  • •Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, or utility in the energy sector, including client experience with UK or Ireland transmission utilities/developers.
  • •Proven delivery of HV infrastructure design across concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
  • •Strong understanding of electrical AC HV plant and equipment, including AIS and GIS, switchgear, busbars, cabling, earthing, and civil interfaces.
  • •Working knowledge of National Grid standards and specifications.
  • •Experience of proposal and bid development, leading multi-discipline submissions for data centre, HV infrastructure, or grid connection projects.
