Job Summary

Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health of Sierra Leone to revise, adapt, and finalize national guidelines and a training package for managing acute malnutrition in children under five. Review existing protocols and synthesize WHO (2023) guidance, identify gaps, and draft updated evidence-based documents, job aids, and training materials. Facilitate stakeholder discussions and validation workshops, then produce technical reports and an implementation and dissemination plan aligned with national strategies.

Key Responsibilities

•Review existing national guidelines, training packages, and operational tools for acute malnutrition in children under five.
•Analyze and synthesize global guidance, including the 2023 WHO Guidelines on wasting and nutritional oedema, plus other relevant standards and evidence.
•Identify recommendations requiring national adaptation and support structured technical discussions with the Ministry of Health and stakeholders.
•Draft revised, evidence-based, user-friendly national guidelines, training materials, and job aids tailored to Sierra Leone.
•Support consultations and validation workshops, finalize the deliverables, and develop an implementation and dissemination plan aligned with national strategies.

Key Requirements

•Advanced university degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Paediatrics, or a related field.
•Minimum 7 years of professional experience in nutrition policy, programme implementation, or guideline development.
•At least 5 years revising clinical and/or operational guidelines for management of acute malnutrition.
•Familiarity with WHO normative guidance, especially the 2023 WHO Guidelines on wasting and nutritional oedema, and experience supporting national adaptation processes.
•Strong experience managing severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and monitoring nutrition programme implementation.
