Job Summary

A Substation Physical Designer in Columbus will provide technical design and CADD support for power delivery projects. You’ll generate design deliverables, work with engineers to resolve discrepancies, collect site data, and ensure designs meet standards. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams on projects of moderate complexity, delivering accurate drawings, reports, and material lists.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical design and CADD support to produce designs and specifications for planning, transportation, infrastructure, and technical services business lines.
•Generate accurate and concise design phase deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, design manuals, plans and profiles, models, sections, details, specifications, and material lists.
•Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from site surveys, blueprints, schematics, and other sources to support drafting and design activities.
•Under minimal supervision, use 3D CAD software and work with engineers to resolve design details or discrepancies and prepare precise drawings.
•Work collaboratively with project engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with contract requirements and client standards.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma.
•7+ years of relevant post-education experience in drafting and design support.
•Knowledge of drafting and design support principles, practices, processes, methods and techniques.
•Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
•Ability to perform technical computations and calculations using geometry and mathematical concepts, interpret plans and specifications.
