Job Summary

Lead geotechnical engineering delivery for the Belfast Ground Engineering team, owning decisions and ensuring technical quality, budget, and programme adherence. Prepare and review desk studies, interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings, and design reports, while contributing to technical review meetings and developing bids and proposals. Provide mentoring and professional development for junior staff and manage project geotechnical input from feasibility and ground investigation through final design for UK, Irish, and international clients.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare, check, and review geotechnical documents including desk studies, interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings, and design reports.
•Own technical review meeting decisions and propose alternative concepts; prepare bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
•Provide on-the-job mentoring and own personal and professional development for junior staff.
•Lead geotechnical input to projects from desk study/feasibility through ground investigation and interpretation to final design.
•Deliver day-to-day project responsibility ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme deliverables.

Key Requirements

•BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering, or BSc/MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Science, or Geotechnical Engineering (desirable).
•Preferred Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) or Geologist (CGeol) status, or on track to achieve within the next year.
•Strong knowledge of UK and Irish ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
•Experience in geotechnical design (e.g., earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) with confidence using relevant design software (e.g., Slope/W, Wallap).
•Good knowledge of Eurocode and British/Irish Standards, plus application of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design.
