Job Summary

Join WSP as a Human Factors Engineer working within the People Centred Design team on rail projects. You’ll run usability evaluations, conduct ergonomics surveys, develop concepts of operations, assess accessibility and inclusion, and elicit user needs, collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams on high-profile rail projects in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

•Undertaking usability evaluations in line with Human Factors standards for equipment/layout/HMIs to demonstrate systems support operators to perform tasks efficiently.
•Conducting Project Ergonomics Surveys including observing railway signalling tasks, level crossing control, measuring workload, impact assessments and Training Needs Analysis, and presenting data to design activities and clients.
•Producing the Concept of Operations to support new/modified station/depot design, and conducting Access & Maintenance assessments, room layout and workstation design including Control room design.
•Working with project teams to assess Accessibility and Design for Inclusion.
•Eliciting Ergonomics requirements and delivering user needs with project teams.

Key Requirements

•Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience.
•Experience of applying ergonomics techniques and processes in the rail industry.
•Knowledge of the railway industry, railway infrastructure and operational roles.
•Previous Human Factors Experience.
•Experience of managing and growing a team.
