Key Responsibilities

  • •Set year-long technical strategy for the Online Storage team and align it with critical business-impacting projects.
  • •Design and build components of a scalable datastore platform, leveraging multi-region, horizontally scalable, globally available, high-performance datastore solutions.
  • •Develop control planes to manage self-service of hundreds of databases, automating schema/data migrations, disaster recovery, sharding, and performance tuning.
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally across product, infrastructure, and SRE to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are managed.
  • •Own operational readiness for availability and “keep the lights on” efforts via monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
  • •Extensive experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
  • •5+ years of hands-on database expertise optimizing relational/distributed SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, TiDB/Vitess) with schema design, query optimization, scaling, sharding, and performance tuning.
  • •Experience delivering major features/system components and creating technical execution plans; write high-quality code others can understand and use.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience; strong verbal and written communication skills.
