Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and scale the sharded Postgres project (Neki) and related database infrastructure from scratch.
  • •Design and implement critical systems powering PlanetScale’s database platform to serve millions of queries per second for large applications.
  • •Collaborate with a team of engineers to solve complex distributed systems challenges and improve performance.
  • •Work independently with minimal direction to solve engineering and business problems.
  • •Engage with customers to understand needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 120,000 - 290,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend systems, database engines, query planners, etc.
  • •Strong proficiency in Go, with experience in other languages like Python or C++
  • •Experience with not just operating, but developing PostgreSQL, MySQL or other databases
