Job Summary

Design and assess permanent underground structures for mining and civil infrastructure projects, including shaft and tunnel/cavern linings, declines, chambers, portals, and associated retaining/support structures. Develop reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structural solutions, perform structural analysis for ground, hydrostatic, construction and durability loads, and produce engineering calculations, reports, specs, and design drawings. Collaborate with geotechnical and multidisciplinary teams and support feasibility, detailed design, and construction queries.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and assess underground structures including shaft linings, tunnel and cavern linings, declines and access tunnels, underground chambers and excavations, portal structures, and related retaining/support structures.
•Develop reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structural solutions for underground infrastructure.
•Undertake structural analysis and design considering ground loading, hydrostatic pressures, construction loading, and operational/long-term durability requirements.
•Produce engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design drawings.
•Collaborate with geotechnical and multidisciplinary teams and support feasibility studies, concept development, detailed design, and construction support including design reviews and technical queries.

Key Requirements

•Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
•5–8 years of experience in structural design for tunnels, shafts, underground structures, or major civil infrastructure.
•Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
•Experience with underground structures including segmental tunnel linings, cast in-situ concrete linings, shaft linings, underground retaining structures, and buried/below-ground structures.
•Familiarity with Eurocodes and relevant international design standards, plus experience using structural analysis software and clear technical communication in multidisciplinary teams.
