Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and design data center heat rejection and HVAC systems, considering cooling type, loads, airflow management, humidity control, redundancy, and compliance.
  • •Select air/water-side cooling systems and containment solutions (e.g., CRAHs, chilled water, DX, CRAC, in-row cooling) based on data center requirements.
  • •Run internal and external CFD analyses to optimize airflow distribution, identify hotspots, and recommend design modifications while coordinating changes with other trades.
  • •Design HVAC systems for redundancy and fault tolerance, including backup cooling, automatic switchover mechanisms, and monitoring.
  • •Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for current needs and future expansions, including HVAC loads for admin/common areas.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency).
  • •Experience with data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
  • •P.E. registration is required.
  • •Knowledge of data center TER Standard Topology (Uptime Institute), TIA 942, and ANSI/BICSI 002.
  • •Preferred: HVAC/energy-focused coursework (and a master’s) plus energy/HVAC-related professional certifications (e.g., CEM, BEMP, LEED).
