The Metal Fabrication and Welding Technician will perform precision welding and fabrication of aerospace prototype parts in a on-site bike shop environment, collaborating with engineers and technicians. Responsibilities include reading basic sketches, operating shop equipment, inspecting parts, coordinating workload and schedules, and supporting multiple programs in a controlled fabrication area.

Key Responsibilities

•Metal fabrication of critical prototype, aerospace parts and test assemblies using various types of metal fabrication tools.
•Use of general machine shop tools and support equipment including the use of typical dimensional measuring tools
•Work with basic sketches and underdeveloped drawing packages as well as model renderings
•Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including part/machine setup, safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing their workload, supporting customers’ schedules, delegating, and coordinating work when required
•Work in a multi-program-controlled area.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
•A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience welding MIG, and TIG.
•A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience with press breaks, rollers, sheet metal forming tools.
•A minimum of six (6) years of interpreting mechanical blueprints / technical drawings with the ability to fabricate the requested parts.
•Experience inspecting fabricated parts using standard precision measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met.
