Job Summary

Build foundational, portable mobile libraries that power Canva on iOS, Android, and web. You’ll write production-grade Rust (and C/C++) components, define interfaces, safety models, and ergonomics, and ensure frontend engineers can effectively consume them through a React Native core. Working with other Staff engineers in Mobile Platform, you’ll lead hands-on technical decisions, communicate through strong design docs, and help set patterns used across the mobile product for years to come.

Key Responsibilities

•Own and build the portable libraries that run across iOS, Android, and web, shaping interface, safety model, and ergonomics.
•Develop production-grade foundational libraries in Rust (and C/C++) that are fast, safe, and reliable across devices.
•Collaborate with a technical leadership group of other Staff engineers to shape Mobile Platform’s technical direction.
•Stay hands-on as an influential individual contributor (no direct reports) and set standards through execution.
•Communicate across the stack so frontend engineers can successfully consume the libraries via strong technical writing and docs.
