Job Summary

Lead the legal, regulatory, governance, and conduct strategy for Treasury, Trading, Capital Markets, and Global Markets. Own escalation for complex legal and regulatory matters, negotiate OTC and exchange-traded derivatives documentation and master agreements (including ISDAs/CSAs/GMRA frameworks), and support new product approvals in volatile markets. Drive legal risk identification, mitigation, and control, ensuring compliance with global margin/prudential and conduct regimes and operating effectively within the Three Lines of Defence.

Key Responsibilities

•Define and embed a forward-looking, risk-based legal and conduct strategy for Treasury, Trading, Capital Markets, and Global Markets aligned to the Bank’s risk appetite.
•Act as final escalation authority for complex, precedent-setting and high-impact legal and regulatory matters prior to Group General Counsel review.
•Provide end-to-end legal support for complex derivatives and related funding products, including structuring, drafting, and negotiation for OTC and exchange-traded instruments.
•Lead negotiation strategy and manage master documentation frameworks (ISDAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, CSAs, and confirmations), including template overhauls to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
•Own the TGM legal risk agenda and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, internal compliance, and operating principles (Three Lines of Defence), including operational risk governance support.

Key Requirements

•Law degree (LLB, LLM, or JD) from a recognised university.
•Admission to the professional bar, law society, or attorney association of a recognised jurisdiction.
•12–15 years of active legal experience in a major financial institution and/or top-tier law firm, focused on derivatives, capital markets, and treasury.
•Deep mastery of ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, CSA documentation and derivatives market practice.
•Excellent English communication; Arabic is an advantage, with the ability to lead, decide, and deliver in real-time, high-pressure environments.
