Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and design data center heat rejection and HVAC systems, including cooling approach options (air-cooled or direct fluid-cooled), airflow management, humidity control, redundancy, maintainability, and compliance.
  • •Select and size appropriate cooling equipment and configurations (e.g., CRAHs, chilled water systems, DX systems, CRAC units, in-row cooling, containment solutions) based on data center requirements.
  • •Run internal and external CFD analyses to optimize airflow and temperature distribution, identify hotspots, recommend design modifications, and coordinate impacts with other trades.
  • •Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for future growth and phased construction, including HVAC loads for admin and common areas.
  • •Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate HVAC with UPS, emergency power, and fire suppression systems; design air quality/filtration systems and support commissioning/review of contractor submittals.

Key Requirements

  • •6+ years in a similar field or technology sector, with experience in data center and/or mission-critical HVAC system design or consultancy.
  • •Proficiency in HVAC design, including hydronic and air-side systems, load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork/piping design, and control systems.
  • •Hands-on experience using CFD analysis (internal/external) to optimize airflow distribution and temperature/hotspot performance.
  • •Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, documentation, and to develop air/fluid flow diagrams, P&IDs, and sequence of operations.
  • •Excellent knowledge of data center standards and software tools (e.g., Uptime Institute TIER topology, TIA-942, ANSI/BICSI 002; Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, Ansys, IES, Six Sigma, TileFlow, Pipe-Flo, Cradle, NavisWorks, Revit, AutoCAD).
