Key Responsibilities

  • •Supervise and lead a team of electrical maintenance technicians for paint shop robotics activities.
  • •Design robot trajectories and programming logic for primer/basecoat/clear coat, using OEM-specific robot programming languages; validate with simulation and digital twin tools.
  • •Lead or support robotic cell integration and commissioning with paint mix rooms, applicators, atomizers, color changers, and environmental control systems.
  • •Analyze paint application results (e.g., orange peel, DOI, runs, mottling, overspray) and iteratively refine robot paths/settings with quality engineers.
  • •Develop safety/compliance documentation and tooling (interlock matrices, zone maps, teach pendant protocols), manage version control/backups, and provide robot recovery/troubleshooting and downtime RCA/PM support.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automation Engineering; master’s preferred or equivalent certifications.
  • •5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial robots in an automotive paint shop or OEM/Tier 1 environment.
  • •Proven track record commissioning and sustaining high-throughput robotic paint applications, including experience leading robot platforms.
  • •Direct experience integrating and validating robotic systems with PLC communication and safety-rated functions.
  • •Electrical safety training/certification is preferred (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA standards).
