Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive evolution of Splunk’s flagship search engine capabilities to meet customer scale, performance, and reliability needs.
  • •Design, develop, and launch backend search features powering core search functionality across the product ecosystem.
  • •Build robust, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems in a multi-threaded/multi-process environment.
  • •Optimize and transform search language layers and improve reliability and scalability of search execution pipelines.
  • •Diagnose and resolve customer incidents, identify gaps in product/observability/process, and deliver prevention-focused enhancements, while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years of related experience (or 5+ with a technical Master’s degree) with a technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • •Strong proficiency in C++, with ability to quickly learn additional languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • •Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and software design).
  • •Debugging and troubleshooting skills using associated tools.
  • •Experience building distributed systems (e.g., databases, file systems, storage) and integrating CI/CD and test automation frameworks, including AI coding assistants/agentic workflows.
