Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and manage a globally distributed engineering team focused on Continuous Deployment capabilities.
  • •Hire, onboard, develop, and coach engineers; set clear expectations for quality and accountability.
  • •Partner with product management and cross-functional engineering teams to shape the roadmap and deliver product commitments.
  • •Set expectations for reliable, secure, maintainable, and performant delivery; track progress and address blockers early.
  • •Participate in incident management on-call rotation to help maintain GitLab.com availability targets.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience managing engineering teams, advising on architecture, and participating in technical discussions.
  • •Experience with distributed systems and durable workflow execution, including state persistence and replay patterns.
  • •Experience building or managing teams for release orchestration, deployment automation, or continuous delivery at scale.
  • •Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment patterns and GitOps workflows, including blue/green and canary deployments.
  • •Experience with policy-based governance and event-driven architectures in reliable, enterprise-grade delivery systems.
