Job Summary

Serve as a technical consultant for utility-scale solar PV and wind energy projects across Southern Africa and beyond. Lead support across the renewable energy project lifecycle—from feasibility and design review through procurement, construction monitoring, commissioning support, and operational advisory. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, lenders, investors, developers, and contractors while preparing technical reports, managing specifications/tender inputs, and mentoring junior engineers. The role includes registration with ECSA and up to 50% travel to project sites and client offices.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver technical advisory work for utility-scale solar PV, wind energy, and related renewable energy projects.
•Provide technical input from initial assessment through technical and economic feasibility, including integration with electrical or generating plant.
•Review project designs and recommend technical and design improvements.
•Prepare/manage technical specifications, bills of materials, tender documentation, tender evaluations, and support contract negotiations.
•Support due diligence and financial close activities for solar PV and wind projects, and monitor construction/acceptance with commissioning supervision and reporting; mentor/supervise junior engineers as needed.

Key Requirements

•BSc Engineering or BTech Engineering qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
•Approximately 3–6 years’ postgraduate experience, preferably in the Solar PV and Wind Energy sectors.
•Experience in Solar PV technology; Wind Energy experience is highly advantageous.
•Experience across the renewable energy project lifecycle, including feasibility, development engineering, construction monitoring, commissioning support, and operational inspections.
•Candidate Engineer registration with ECSA is required (PrEng within 1–3 years is required).
