Key Responsibilities

  • •Preserve and analyze evidence from compromised or suspect systems for incident response, threat hunt, and insider threat monitoring.
  • •Reconstruct what actually happened by aligning findings to the question asked and reconciling timelines across systems.
  • •Ensure evidence handling follows chain of custody and produces findings that survive being challenged.
  • •Produce findings framed for incident response and external processes, including documentation suitable for disciplinary, legal, or law enforcement action.
  • •Build and improve a digital forensics capability over time by refining processes, reviewing tooling/techniques, and incorporating lessons learned.

Key Requirements

  • •Have led digital forensic investigations producing findings used for disciplinary, legal, or law enforcement action, not only internal analysis.
  • •Maintain chain of custody and defensible evidence handling so findings hold up under scrutiny.
  • •Work forensics in a federal or highly regulated environment and understand evidentiary standards.
  • •Deliver forensic findings to non-technical audiences (legal, HR, leadership) and frame them appropriately.
  • •Hold an active CBP BI and EOD, or an active DoD clearance (or a DHS component fitness determination) that shortens start date.
