Key Responsibilities

  • •Own delivery across your squads, including sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, estimation, and decision-making when squads want the same outcomes.
  • •Improve and explain cycle time, ensuring it improves without sacrificing quality.
  • •Stay technical by shipping production work on squads you manage directly and reviewing architecture and incidents on squads that run through another manager.
  • •Partner with Product Strategists to hold the line between scope and engineering capacity, ensuring clarity on what can be delivered, at what cost, and by when.
  • •Grow managers and plan next year's team needs, including headcount, skill mix, and onboarding paths for an agent-heavy codebase.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years managing engineers directly.
  • •Experience developing another leader, including growing an engineer into a tech lead/EM role with real accountability.
  • •A track record shipping mission-critical software to production and owning it afterwards.
  • •Experience owning prioritization and estimation for a team, including saying no and explaining why.
  • •Currently shipping production code in at least one layer of the stack, with enough range to review architecture decisions critically.
