Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases across cloud (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL) and on-premises Linux environments, including upgrades, patching, and parameter tuning.
  • •Monitor database health and performance using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and observability tools; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in cloud and on-premises deployments.
  • •Optimize query performance using indexing strategies, query rewriting, and execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE).
  • •Manage PostgreSQL and MongoDB Atlas operations including clustering, scaling, backups/restores, network security controls, monitoring/alerting, and user/role management.
  • •Develop documentation and runbooks, automate routine tasks with Bash/Python/SQL and infrastructure-as-code tooling, and participate in on-call rotation and incident response.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments.
  • •Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, including MVCC, WAL, autovacuum, and logical/physical replication.
  • •Proven experience managing PostgreSQL on AWS (RDS/Aurora) and/or Azure (Azure Database for PostgreSQL), including HA and read replicas.
  • •Strong performance-tuning skills using EXPLAIN/EXPLAIN ANALYZE, index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, partial indexes), and statistics management.
  • •Experience with backup and disaster recovery, including cloud-managed snapshots and point-in-time recovery (meeting RTO/RPO).
