Job Summary

Associate in Apollo’s Private Investment Grade team focusing on origination, structuring, underwriting, execution, and ongoing management of illiquid investments across developed markets. Responsible for valuation, transaction modelling, deal execution, and maintaining portfolio positions, working cross-functionally with portfolio managers, sector analysts, legal, risk, and operations to generate excess spread through complex private credit transactions.

Key Responsibilities

•Support origination, structuring, underwriting, and execution of private investment grade transactions across developed markets with deal team members and counterparties.
•Build and maintain historical and projected financial models of companies and transactions to support origination and underwriting.
•Conduct independent fundamental credit analysis and prepare investment memos with risk/reward assessments and covenant analysis for Investment Committee.
•Assign and maintain internal credit ratings for holdings, assess relative value versus public investment grade alternatives, and document rating rationale.
•Coordinate end-to-end deal execution, including covenant negotiation and post-close monitoring, interfacing with legal, compliance, and operations.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree with an exceptional academic record; CFA charterholder or progress toward designation preferred; MBA or advanced degree a plus
•3-6 years of relevant work experience in investment banking (leveraged finance, M&A or restructuring) or buy-side corporate/infrastructure private credit
•Valuation experience; comfortable independently building and defending company and position valuation and transaction cashflow models
•Strong modelling, analytical, valuation, and problem-solving skills; advanced Excel modelling; familiarity with Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, or comparable systems
•Demonstrated ability to independently analyse and recommend credits across corporate sectors; covenant review and documentation experience across private placements, syndicated/club loans, or structured credit
