Job Summary

Support Dyson’s Home Research Expansion team by discovering and developing disruptive floorcare and adjacent home technologies. Lead investigative and technology/product development projects from ideation to proof of concept, building functional prototypes for testing and demonstration. Use data and engineering judgment to make design decisions, manage risks, and create specifications, test plans, and research reports. Collaborate globally with category and support teams, and mentor more junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop new floorcare and adjacent home product technologies.
•Contribute to integration of innovative technologies through collaboration with product teams.
•Design and build functional prototype products for testing, review, and senior stakeholder demonstration.
•Identify, prioritize, and manage risk to deliver design engineering solutions on time, cost, and spec.
•Create technical documentation including specifications, test plans, functional prototypes, and research reports; perform and review performance test analysis.

Key Requirements

•A degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline or equivalent.
•A creative, analytical approach to problem solving using clear design processes and analytical skills.
•Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM systems and analysis packages.
•Ideally, the ability and desire to develop electro-mechanical prototypes using microcontrollers, sensors and actuators.
•Experience collaborating with a team and influencing others to deliver results on time.
